Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label released her first EP titled Pho in October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. In the following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. The 9th of November saw her release two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 the singer released two new singles titled The No One as well as Pdigree. She was featured with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later released the song as a solo single on the album she released her debut. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within one week, it had over 3 million views. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
