Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she won an Emmy Award. Her roles include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also an auntie. Delaney has four older brothers. As a child she longed to be a reporter for the court. But after she graduated from high school and relocating into New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. Her first acting job was as a teenager as a child in All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney appeared in a number of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. The professional life she has had is more successful than her private life. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism in the past as well as two failed marriages. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
